Card Corner by Chrystal Riddell

Want to make your holiday cards this year but just don't have much time or a big budget? Grab a simple sketch, find patterned paper that has a repeating design element that you can cut up, and use it like you would a die-cut. Every card doesn't need to be identical. This makes it fun and personal to send a different card to everyone on your list, and it won't break the bank. The snowman and cocoa mug squares shown here are from Pinecone Press, and one sheet of paper has 12 elements on it! Use more of the paper, stamps, or rub-ons for the sentiment.

Step by Step

Supplies:

Cardstock
3 strips of patterned paper
3 similar embellishments
alphabet letters for title
journaling strips

First, arrange three different sized strips of patterned paper.

Second, add three 3 x 3 pics cropped on white cardstock. Place photos on angles above strips of patterned paper.
Third, add your three embellishments to your layout as shown.

Last, add your title and journaling strips to the bottom of your layout!

Voila!! Simple, easy, and quick : ) ENJOY!

What A Catch!

TTT recently hosted a weekend crop and I picked three layouts from this crop to showcase. There were so many talented pages and people participating in this crop to narrow it down to three but here are the ones that caught my eye and why.

Created by Marilyn(former TTT DT member):

I love the title and the photos are so awesome. It makes me smile to see kids playing around and it's fun to capture those moments so you can scrap them. I love the color scheme and the splash of red really catches your eye and makes the whole page pop. Great page Marilyn!

I am in awe of these beautiful fall photos. The colors are so beautiful and you matched the pics up perfectly with papers and embellies. I love the scattered buttons and the leave accents. Great page Marge!

I love the layered strips of paper. I love the color choice as well. The journaling touches me as I think a lot of Moms have this fear. I love the blue/yellow title as it just pops on the page and matches the patterned paper so well. Great page!!!!

November Project ~ Memory Game

by Nathalie
Supplies:
- a small box, small tin (such as an Altoids tin) or a small box template
- at least two sheets of papers, one patterned, one solid
- one sheet of patterned paper with a repetitive pattern that can be paired OR at least 4 or 5 pairs of family portraits
- frame stamp (optional)

Step 1: Figure out the size your cards need to be to fit into your container. Mine had to be 2 3/4 x 1 7/8. Cut an even number of cards from your first patterned paper and the same amount from your solid paper. When you glue them back to back, they make the front and back of your cards. You can choose to stitch (or faux stitch) them together like I did.

Step 2: To create the game, I used this paper ("Robot Love") from Bella Boulevard because it had a repetitive pattern which offered the ability to make at least 5 pairs (it is actually the paper that gave me the idea for this project;)

But if you don't have this kind of paper, you can still make this project fun by using pairs of photos of each family member for example.
You can simply cut rectangles a little smaller than your cards or you can choose a shape. I used a frame stamp then cut the shape according to the stamped frame. Glue them on top of your cards (on the solid paper).

Step 3: Make or alter your container. I used a hotel soap box as a template to make my box out of the same paper I used for the back of my cards. Decorate and personalize as you wish!

Doesn't it make a great gift for a preschooler?! I think my nephew is going to love it ;)
