January 2011 Monthly Kit Contest

This month it's all about SNOW and COLD!!!! You may not have snow at your house and it may still be 80 degrees some days so if this is the case go BLUE!


Layout requirements:
~Use a Picture of Snow on Your page
~Or use the color blue on your page
~ Or a snow embellishment or paper
(look for these in past kits or upcoming kits)

The main requirement is that you need to use a kit from Transparent Touches, any kit. Please refer to the rules post in this forum for additional details.

Due date this month will be midnight PST January 31st. Winner will be determined by drawing.

You can enter as many times as you like. 2 page LOs count as one entry.

You can post your pages two ways: share it with us on this post and in the contest section of the user gallery or on the blog linking your layout from another gallery or your personal blog. I look forward to seeing your entries.

January 2011 Challenge

This month with it being the start of the New Year this contest is all about Firsts. First's of the year, first's for you, first's for you kids.....anyway you want to interpret it. Let's make this an easy one to kick off the new year!

Contest Guidelines:
Please share your layouts in this post and in the user gallery or include a link to your entry in the TTT blog post regarding this contest by midnight PST on January 31st. The page needs to be new and created for this challenge. One winner will be drawn to win a TTT prize pack!
Anyone can participate and you can use whatever scrap materials you want to. It does not need to be created with a TTT kit. Two page lo's count as 1 page.

TTT January 2011 kits are up!

(You do not have to be a TTT kit member to purchase kits and sale items)

If you haven't already emailed me to let me know which kit(s) you'd like for January..please do so. If you would like to order an extra kit, just let me know which ones you'd like and I will put you down for those. I try to keep up with the kit emails as they come in so I know when a kit is sold out...please assume that you got your first choice, unless you get an email from me letting you know that it was already sold out before your email came in. If you have a question in your email, I do try to answer those quickly.

January kits will ship January 10-15th. The DT layouts with the kits will be revealed later this month on the TTT blog and the User Gallery

New Design Team Member

Please help me in welcoming Anna Stenwick to the TTT Design Team this 2011! She has been a member for many years and has guest designed for us before now she is going to be part of them team. Here's a little more about her:

I'm Anna and I've been scrapping since I was 18 years old. That is also when I met my husband Chad. We've been married now for 12 years and have 3 kids, Jamie, Abby, and Tristan. We live in Bremerton, which is in the great rainy Pacific Northwest. But it's also beautiful here and that's why I love it. My husband works nearby and I am a stay-at-home mom, sometimes getting some contract work for computer programming. My husband and I love to travel, both with and without the kids. Our family often travels with my husband for his business trips too. My other hobbies include card-making, photography, cooking, and reading. I'm so glad that my sister, Carrie introduced me to TTT kits, and I'm honored and so excited to be on the team!

Homemade Christmas Gift

Need a quick and easy homemade Christmas gift? Well, what about a cookies in a jar recipe. All you need is a glass jar, ingredients, a tag with the recipe, ribbon, and a cookie cutter.

In the glass jar layer:
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
**mix together
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c white granulated sugar
1 c mini chocolate chips/ mini M & M's

Once the jar is filled, tie a ribbon around the top and attach a tag with the recipe (see picture below) and a cookie cutter. (You can create a tag using Microsoft Word and adding a fun holiday border. Cut your tag with decorative scissors and decorate.)

Best-Ever Cookies

Makes 4 dozen

1 jar Best Ever Cookie Mix
1 cup butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Using an electric mixer cream the butter, eggs, and vanilla. Add the cookie mix and stir until well blended. Drop the cookies by rounded tablespoons on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Ribbon Ornaments

So if you tried the ribbon Christmas Trees (see post below) then you need to try the same technique to create ribbon ornaments. Again, all you need is a sewing machine, ribbon, and cardstock.

Following the steps from the ribbon trees:

First, punch out different sized circles from cardstock and attach to a second piece of cardstock.
Second, lay ribbon across all of the pre-cut circles and sew. (**see example under ribbon trees)
Finally, cut around the circles and decorate. (I cut small squares from shimmery gray cardstock and attached to the back of each ornament. Then, I punched a hole and tied on a ribbon. You could also use a medal hook.)
Now they are ready to add to your tree, card, or layout!

Ribbon Christmas Trees

Want a fun way to add Christmas trees to your layout? Well what about ribbon trees. It's "sew" easy!! All you need is a sewing machine, cardstock, and ribbon.


First: Cut triangles from cardstock and adhere to a second piece of cardstock.Next: Lay and sew ribbon across each pre-cut triangle.
Last: Cut your pre-cut triangles out and decorate.
Now you can add them to your next layout or card or attach a ribbon and hang them on your tree!

Transparency Tuesday!

Every month the design team creates pages with transparency from the Transparent touches store. Sometimes they are full 8.5x11 pages, journal spots, bracket blocks, or the fun ones that come in your kit. December 2010 TTT Kit Designs-Kit #1

It's time for the kit reveals by the design team. This month featured some fabulous Christmas themed kits! This one was a fun twist; it was a project kit that included a shaped mini album by Little Yellow Bicycle and all the shaped papers and embellishments to make the album!
