July Member Spotlight

by Nathalie

Anytime Star shares one of her pages with us at Transparent Touches, it is a treat for the eyes. I really like her style and wanted to know a little more about the person behind the pages :) She accepted to answer a few of my questions. Thank you Star!

1/Your TTT member name?
ScrappinStar

2/Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?)
I am married to my high school sweetie & we have 2 wonderful boys. Mason, 7 & Trent, 5 and we are raising my brother Eric, 12. We have a golden retriever & 2 cats. We live in a tiny town in Illinois, the nearest scrap store is 45minutes away.

3/How did you get started in scrapbooking? How long have you been scrapbooking?
My husband was the one who got me hooked by bringing home a Creating Keepsakes magazine from work soon after my 1st son was born. I didn't even know then that you could scrap that way, I had only seen Creative Memories stuff before.

4/What are your favorite place and time to scrap?
I love scrapping at crops but that rarely happens. Lately I have been pulling out my stuff in the living room and doing it after the kids go to bed. I miss my desk though! I condensed my stuff because our house in on the market.

5/What is your favorite scrapbooking technique right now?
I am finding myself distressing & sewing everything!
"Simply Imagine" by Star

6/What product(s) are you addicted these days?
I really love border punches, I just wished I owned more of them....and I really wish I used my cricut more!

7/What inspires you creatively?
Ever since I started designing for TwistedSketches.com I have started using sketches all the time! I never used to use them, but now I get inspired by the designs and it makes my work much faster!

8/What brought you to TTT?
I have always been a monthly kit lurker...I have to be certain I will love them before I commit. I first found TTT from Carrie Labani's blog because I know Carrie from another scrap site. I have watched the kits go up every month and I always love what Monica picks!

9/What do you enjoy the most about TTT?
I really love that Monica gives you the choice between 3 kits, and she shows them to you early...I really cant stand to wait for the reveal!

10/Do you have anything on your scrappy wish list?
I would really love to have a tall "scrapbox"...or a craft room all to myself!

11/What is something about you that we may not know??
I just won a drawing for a free Maggie Holmes photography class! woohoo!

To see more about Star's work, you can visit her blog at http://starsstory.blogspot.com/

I hope you enjoyed getting to know her as much as I did! Thanks again Star!

December Member Spotlight

by Nathalie

You have probably seen Anna's wonderful creations in the TTT User Gallery or have chatted with her on the Message Board. We are lucky to have her around because she is one talented scrapper and I very recently had the chance to find out a little bit more about her.

Your TTT member name? annaBananna

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?)
I live Bremerton, WA with my husband of 11 years and 2 kids Abby (3) and Jamie (4), with number three on the way. I am mostly a SAHM, but sometimes I do computer programming contract work, which is what my previous career was! With the economy the way it is, I haven't done any computer work in almost 2 years, but that's okay - more time to scrapbook!

How did you get started in scrapbooking? How long have you been scrapbooking?
I got started by attending a DOTS stamping party (now called Close to my Heart). That was about 13 years ago.

What are your favorite place and time to scrap?
I love to scrap in my scrap-room (which is in the attic) because I have easy access to my entire stash, as well as a computer, printer and scanner. I usually scrap at night once the kids are in bed.

What is your favorite scrapbooking technique right now?
Sewing on my pages, it gives it such a homemade feel.

What product(s) are you addicted these days?
I'd have to say that I add some sort of rhinestones or pearls to just about every page! I love collecting journaling tags too!

What inspires you creatively?
Sketches, especially ones I can easily find online and just print out. I love a good challenge to get me motivated too.

What brought you to TTT?
I met Monica at a scrap retreat in Leavenworth, WA and she told Carrie and I about her kit club. I've been hooked ever since!

What do you enjoy the most about TTT?
Well, the kits are the best out there but I love the friendly people too!

Do you have anything on your scrappy wish list?
I think it's time to break-down and finally get a cricut.

What is something about you that we may not know??
Did you know that I'm 32 weeks pregnant??? and it's a BOY!

Well, that's a surprise! Congratulations Anna! And thank you so much for spending the time to answer my questions. I look forward to seeing more of your creations with (and without) TTT kits!

August Member Spotlight

by Nathalie

ScrapMel has been chatting with us on the message board and sharing her creations in the Gallery and I wanted to find out a little more about her so I invited her to be our August Member Spotlight. Thank you for answering my questions ScrapMel! It was fun to get to know you better!

Your TTT member name?
ScrapMel

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?)
I have three boys, ages 6, 4 and 1; one Jack Russell puppy and 5 fish.

How did you get started in scrapbooking? How long have you been scrapbooking?
Five years ago a former co-worker took me shopping for some basic supplies. Three months later, she apologized to my husband for creating a monster, ahem, I mean, an AVID scrapbooker. About three years ago, I turned 100% digtial. Now? I do whatever strikes my fancy (or whatever the designers I 'CT' for need, lol)

What is your favorite place to scrap?
In my home,
in my bedroom, at my desk. That is where all my things are and I never know what I will need to complete a layout! I am definitely not a planner - I love chaos!

What are your favorite scrapping snack and drink?
Coffee ... and sometimes I sneak some ice cream in there ...

What product(s) are you addicted to right now?
I just got a Silhouette ... and I love it! I also love textured AC cardstock. And my Big Bite. And my Photoshop.
OH! and my Fiskars Fingertip craft knife! If you think it looks weird and hard to use, it is not so! Paired with my magnetic ruler/self-healing mat and Tim Holtz Design Ruler ... I am a pro at cutting straight lines now!

What inspires you creatively?
I know everyone always says "Everything!" but for me, it is very true. I follow a LOT of blogs (I found TTT through Ali Edwards' blog) that deal with scrapbooking (duh!), home decor, art, mixed media, writings, muses, family life, etc.

Cousins by ScrapMel
What brought you to TTT?
Ali Edwards : )

What do you enjoy the most about TTT?
The people - amazingly friendly and helpful; AND the choice of kits!

What is on your scrappy wish list?
Yikes! Everything? My latest wish was the Silhouette - and I just got it. So I am not looking to want for anything ... at least for a month. Though all the blogs showing all the new products showcased at CHA right now is NOT helping!

What is something about you that we may not know??
I work full time as a research scientist for a pharmaceutical company. And, as you probably guess, I NEVER sleep (therefore the coffee listed above as my drink choice!)

Member Spotlight

This month I had the privilege of interviewing one of our talented TTT members for the blog. Here is your chance to get to know more about Tammy!

Your TTT member name?

Sneakybacon. It actually stands for my last name--anyone care to take a guess?

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?)

I'm a SAHM to my 3 children: Matthew age 5, Lauren age 4, and Catherine who's 18 months old. I married my high school sweetheart Grant almost 10 years ago, although we did take a 10 year hiatus from each other when we hit college! We lived in St. Louis for a long time, moved to North Carolina over 8 years ago. I miss my family a lot, but I sure do love living so close to the ocean. We have one cat named Bailey, but the kids have really been bugging us for a dog!

How did you get started in scrapbooking? How long have you been scrapbooking?

I did the glue photos in a scrapbook followed up with sticker-sneeze when I was younger. I started scrapbooking "for real" about 5 years ago after my son was born, started out with a couple of those page kits you get at the craft store and it has grown from there.

What is your favorite place to scrap?

Probably in my scrapbook room (I mean dining room), although I do like to go to manias at Archivers with some friends every once in a while, gotta have that girls night out!

What are your favorite scrapping snack and drink?

I love to have a Starbucks Mocha when I scrapbook. I don't usually have snack food when I'm scrapping, but when I do it's gotta be peanut M-n-M's.

What product(s) are you addicted to right now?

The question should be what I'm not addicted to! I have discovered Unity Stamps recently and am in love with them. Of course I've always had a paper addiction, I'm sure I have plenty of paper to last a lifetime. My favorite paper companies right now are Kaiser Craft, Bo Bunny and My Mind's Eye.

What inspires you creatively?

I get a lot of inspiration from sketches. My favorite site is probably Pagemaps, but I also get inspiration from 52 Sketches...52 Weeks, Got Sketch (which I learned about from TTT), and Triple the Sketch. The gallery here at TTT is absolutely amazing, and I have been known to scraplift a little!

What brought you to TTT?

I learned about TTT from one of those kit club posts at Two Peas in a Bucket. I lurked here for quite a while before I finally took the plunge last September and signed up for a membership. I have been so happy here, I just renewed last month!

What do you enjoy the most about TTT?

That's a hard one, because there really is so much to enjoy. Of course I love the kits, Monica does such an awesome job, but I also love the MB and the gallery.

What is on your scrappy wish list?

I would really love some organizational stuff (like cubes, desk, etc) to set up a really cute scrapbook space.

What is something about you that we may not know??

Before I was a SAHM, I was an RN. I worked in the Neonatal ICU, did pharmaceutical sales, but by far the coolest job I ever had was on the Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Team at a Children's Hospital, where I got to fly around in a helicopter or jet, and ride in an ambulance! Yes, I thought I was pretty cool!

Thank you Tammy for sharing a little bit about yourself and we look forward to seeing more of you on the board!

January Member Spotlight!

by Nathalie

I had the privilege of interviewing one of our talented (and funny) TTT Member for our blog. Here's your chance to get to know more about Annette!

Your TTT Member name? jazzgodezz

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?) I'm married to my best friend, Steve and we have three boys, Joe, Michael and Sean. I'm a blessed SAHM who loves to read, write, and scrapbook. I have a double degree in music performance and education, but have stayed home with my kids since 2001. My husband is a major in the USAF, flying the B-1B. I have a cat, Doc, and a dog, Inara who both think that "they" should be the center of my universe.

How did you get started in scrapbooking? How long have you been scrapbooking? I've been scrapbooking for 10 years and I enjoy making pages that my kids will be able to pass on to their families. I started in 1998 at a CM party and haven't looked back since. Although I've got memory books and clippings from grade school.

What is your favorite place to scrap? I prefer to scrap at my local scrapbook store, but I don't get to go as often as I'd like. Mostly once or twice a month, otherwise, I'm at home cramming it in when I can. I teach classes at the store occasionally, so I can't complain!

What is your favorite scrapping snack and drink? Diet Coke and carne asada taco. YUM. Trust me. These are to DIE for.

What product(s) are you addicted to right now? BLING. If it glitters, I'm going to use it. I love flowers and am NOT afraid to use them on my boys' pages. I really tend to use glitter when and wherever I can. Unfortunately, that means I'm usually wearing it too. My friends love to tease me about where it ends up: hair, face, shirt...floor.

What inspires you creatively? I love to look at blogs of all types of styles. I will look there before I start to scrapbook to get things in my head and then I'll look through sketch blogs and books. This really helps me get "in the zone" when I need to really scrap.

What brought you to TTT? I was looking for a little change in my kit subs. I had heard some great things about TTT and took a peek at the past kits. I loved what I saw and that I got a choice in three kits. I've been here ever since.

What do you enjoy the most about TTT? Monica. Seriously. She has never let me down with her kits. I get to choose or add MORE to my monthly box. She offers addons to complement each choice and some extra special purchase items. The variety is perfect for me. I know I can count on a GOOD kit that I WILL use.

What is on your scrappy wish list? More bling? I love rhinestone stickers and I'm also wishing that I had a Bind It All... I see a lot of potential (damage) here!

What is something about you that we may not know? I'm pretty much an open book. But, I worked at an NPR station while in college. I did the production crew, setting up performances, recording, and even sound. But I really loved doing the on air work the best. I would work every Saturday night from 6-12 and do the on-air segments. I'd also help out during the week during the prime morning sessions. That was the best job I've ever had. I miss it!

Thank you so very much Annette for sharing a bit about yourself with us. To see more of Annette's work, go check her blog:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?)
I am retired after spending nearly 30 years in a law office in various capacities – legal secretary, paralegal, office manager. Prior to that I taught 3rd and 5th grades for about 10 years. I am a widow, have two grown daughters, two stepdaughters, one stepson, 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. I just recently downsized from a 7 room house to a 2-bedroom condo/townhouse where I can be near family. I am a cat lover. Currently I have four cats (although my condo regulations say two is the limit), a 9-year old male Snowshoe named Fideaux and pronounced Fido, a flame point Siamese male, approximately a year and a half old, named Nutmeg, two female 5-month old British tabby kittens, Scout and Sissy, whom I call "the Twins". You’ve seen them all in my layouts.

How did you get started in scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking when my oldest daughter was a Creative Memories consultant. I had a party/class at my house as a help to get her started. From that moment on, I was hooked. Since that time, I have left the CM method of border, corner and stickers behind.

How long have you been scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking about 7 years ago. Since then, I have done about 22 albums – a couple 5x7's as gifts, one 5x7 for myself. The rest were 12x12.

What is your favorite place to scrap?
I like to scrap in my own scrap room. I like to have all my own materials at hand so I can do a layout from start to finish.

What are your favorite scrapping snack and drink?
While I am scrapping, I neither snack nor drink, at least not in the scrap room. I’m very anal about not getting anything on my layouts.

What product(s) are you addicted to right now?
I am addicted to the Cricut. I have both the Design Studio and SCAL. I love to use SCAL for titles. I am also addicted to TTT kits.

What inspires you creatively?
Sketches, contests, challenges and nice comments on my layouts from the board.

What brought you to TTT?
My friend, Shirl (kkrewtea), recommended that I join in on a cybercrop last year in the Spring. I’ve been here ever since.

What do you enjoy the most about TTT?
I love the friendly people and the feeling of real concern I receive from responses to my posts. I have always felt welcome. Since I get many nice comments on work I do, I get the feeling that the board members really care. I’ve met some very nice people through TTT and have developed a long distance friendship with Rozy.

What is on your scrappy wish list?
White organizational storage cubes. I just moved and would like to make my new scrap room really nice. I have seen what I want in a catalog but I have to wait awhile to get them.

What is something about you that we may not know??
When I’m not scrapping, I am an avid reader of mystery stories.

September Member Spotlight!

DT member Nathalie Leonelli did a member spotlight interview on a very special TTT member. So let's introduce her to you.

Your TTT member name? Traci Smith- Traci~MN (used to be mommyof2cutegirls)

Tell us a bit about yourself and your family (and pets?) I am a working mom of 2 little girls, Vanessa, 4, and Aubrey, 21 months, and wife to Tony for 8 years now (although we’ve been together for 12 years now in August!!) We used to have 2 cats, but both are in kitty heaven now! My daughter wants to get a puppy, but we keep telling her when Aubrey is older then you can get one! I currently live in SE MN, about 10 minutes NW from Winona, MN (which is 2 hours south of the Twin Cities), along the Mississippi River.

How did you get started in scrapbooking? How long have you been scrapbooking? I got started in scrapbooking most recently when my 4 year old was born in 2003. A gal I worked with had won a gift certificate from a LSS in LaCrosse, WI. She gave me the certificate, as she wasn’t a scrapper, as I had mentioned an interest in it. From there…it just got out of hand. I would say, though, that I’ve been scrapping since I was a kid. I made my own “baby book” when I was 12 or 13. Then moved on to journaling my senior trip to Mexico in a photo album. I also made various books on our trips that my husband I took to California and then on our cruise to the Cayman Islands/Jamaica/Ochos Rios in early 2003. I love making mini albums for gifts and always make my mom a calendar for Christmas for the following year!

What is your favorite place to scrap? I love scrapping at home, at my computer desk/scrappy desk. On occasion, I will go to a crop with some girlfriends, but maybe only once or twice a year. It’s too hard packing all this mess up!!

What are your favorite scrapping snack and drink? I usually just have a A&W Cream Soda while I’m scrapping.

What product(s) are you addicted to right now? I’d have to say I’m addicted to anything with lines…be it scrap paper or the little journal cards. I love the Making Memories noteworthy line.

What inspires you creatively? It’s hard to say what inspires me creatively…I think its just the world around me, and taking a step back from things to remove myself from situations and see things from different views. Then I always find a new angle on things and see them differently, and that gets me going creatively! I will see a commercial or see the colors on my daughter’s clothes and think that those would be cool on a scrapbook page!

What brought you to TTT? I found TTT off of ebay when I was hunting down scrapbook stuff in the early years [2006]…Monica was selling her transparencies on there, and I fell in love with them! More recently, I just loved going on the message board and taking part in the different on-line crops and challenges.

What do you enjoy the most about TTT? I love looking at the different layouts that the design team creates with the products and love the message boards to see where other’s get their inspiration.

What is on your scrappy wish list? The big Cricut and Photoshop and a new 12x12 scanner.

What is something about you that we may not know?? You may not know that I am on the design team at my local scrapbook store, Scrappers Haven!!

LO by Traci:

Thanks Traci for being our member spotlight for September!
